Summer Update and Registration Information2010-07-08
As we begin the Summer, PYHA would like to give you an update for what's in store for the upcoming season. We are looking forward to the hockey season, but we are wishing away the summer heat...
New Programs!
* Instructional Level II - We are now offering a 2nd level of
skills for our instructional players who are not ready to play on a
travel team. I think this is a great idea especially for the younger
kids joining our program. Instructional II will begin after the holidays
for those players who are ready for the next step of skills and
cross-ice play.
* Mite Development - We will be incorporating the USA Hockey ADM
Model priciples to our mites(http://www.admkids.com/). This will include skill sessions,
cross-ice, and game skills learned in small confined spaces. This model
is sanctioned by USA hockey and is being deployed in various formats
across the country. Our Mite C program will be enhanced to offer the
multiple skill sessions per week along with cross-ice games as well. We
will also offer the Mite travel as we have in the past.
Program Changes
* House League - The house program will not be offered in the
2010-2011 season at PYHA. It was a very difficult decision that was not
without great thought and consideration, however given the 2 year
decline in players and recent increase of ice fees to $240/hour it is not feasible
going forward. The house program has been an excellent part of PYHA for
many years and we are disappointed it cannot continue. With all the
different offerings at PYHA we hope to retain most if not all of our
house players going forward.
Anticipated Growth!
* Travel Program - We are anticipating a slight increase in our
membership over last year. Jim Beauregard has done a tremendous job
promoting our program to the Attleboro School system this past Spring.
He has already had a few inquiries. We are excited to signup some new
players from the Attleboro community.
Our first registration date is coming soon Monday 7/12 7pm at Blackstone
Valley Sports Center (Lynch Arena). If you haven't been to the rink
lately it looks great! The new ownership is doing a fantastic jobs on
the renovations. Periodically check our website for more updates this
summer.
Enjoy your summer and register for hockey soon!
